  2. These should be interpreted as follows:

  4. (1) the C code, C++ code and shell scripts have been entirely
  5. written by Herve' Touati (Copyright (C) 1988) as part of the 
  6. UC Berkeley Aquarius project. 
  7. (2) The Compiler has been written for the most part by Peter Van Roy
  8. (Copyright (C) 1988). Modifications to support garbage collection
  9. and the particular emulator delivered here are due to Herve' Touati
  10. (Copyright (C) 1988).
  11. (3) The Benchmarks are borrowed from various other places.
  12. The copyright notices do not mean much for those, but some have
  13. been modified by various people, including Herve' Touati.
  14. (4) The test data have been written by Herve' Touati (Copyright (C) 1988).

  16. This code is provided as is, without any warranty.
  17. It has been heavily tested on only one configuration:
  18. VAX running 4.3BSD; C++ compiler by AT&T version 1.2; Quintus Prolog version 
  19. 1.6 or 2.0.
  20. It has run on Sun 3s.

  22. The copyright notice means the following:
  23. - the code is free, and can be distributed as long as the copyright notice
  24. and this file are not removed
  25. - any research work that uses this code, or ideas from this code should
  26. acknowledge this work (Peter Van Roy for the compiler, Herve' Touati
  27. for the emulator, run-time system, including the garbage collector).
